Choose the match moment, select the players you want to highlight, and set the tracking duration. Keep attention on a pressing run, a supporting movement, or a defensive recovery as the footage plays.

Connect tracked player markers to explain the relationships between players. Follow a defensive unit or midfield group through a sequence and show how their shape changes around the ball.

If a marker drifts, pause at that moment and move it back onto the player. Continue tracking from there to replace the remaining path while keeping the earlier part of the sequence.

Where is player tracking available?

The demonstrations on this page show tracking in desktop Video Analysis for Mac and Windows (Windows beta). The browser Video Analysis tool also includes a simpler tracking option for short clips. For the full workflow shown here, choose desktop.

Can I choose which players to track?

Yes. Select the players relevant to the tactical phase, set the starting moment and tracking duration, then review the resulting markers as the footage plays.

Can I connect tracked players to show team shape?

Yes. Use marker connections to show relationships between tracked players, such as a defensive unit or midfield group. The connections move with the markers through the sequence.

What if a tracked marker drifts?

Pause where the marker drifts, select it, and move it back onto the player. Choose the forward duration and use Continue tracking from here. Earlier tracking samples are preserved while the remaining path is replaced.

Does tracking need to be reviewed?

Yes. Players crossing, obscured bodies, and camera changes can affect tracking. Review the sequence and use the correction tools where needed before exporting your analysis.

Can I combine tracking with other annotations?

Yes. Desktop Video Analysis includes professional arrows, zones, player spotlights, text, and freeze-frame scenes alongside tracking. Use them together to explain the tactical point.

Are videos uploaded for desktop tracking?

Desktop tracking and media processing run locally on your computer. An internet connection is needed for sign-in and membership verification.

What can I export?

Export an annotated MP4 from the desktop app, with your tracked markers and tactical graphics included. Preview the sequence and choose your crop before exporting.

Does tracking need a separate subscription?

No. Both monthly and annual DrawTactics memberships include player tracking within Video Analysis and the other web and desktop tools. Compare membership plans.
